Biography

Morgan Herum creates art as cultural hijaks that influence how people interpret and interact with environmental and social injustices, including privatization and pollution of water, and gender misunderstandings.  Herum applies the appropriate medium for the message, drawing from traditional metalsmithing and printmaking processes, as well as performance art and public art.  Herum is influenced by hikes, bicycle tours and commutes, gardening, street art, books, news, and a regular yoga practice.

Morgan Herum has been published in The Shepard Express, The Missourian, and The League of Discerning & Cultured Individuals.  Herum has exhibited work in more than twenty-five exhibitions, including and just having been awarded 3rd Place in the Midwest Metalcore Student Jewelry and Metalsmithing Exhibition, Metals! 13 Juried Online Exhibition.  Herum recently collaborated on mud stencil and workshops and mural as well as a mask-making workshop with Jesse Graves and Columbia, Missouri residents at the True/False film festival. Herum graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a BFA in May 2013.
